So this pretty much paves the way for the main characters in both animes to find someone else to protect. Eren’s mom is dead and his dad is MIA (going according to anime, people.) Mikasa and Armin’s parents are also dead, and I’m pretty sure Enju’s parents are, too. ![]() Rentaro is missing both his parents, though there is a hint that they might still be alive-it never says that they’re actually dead. Lost Parents: There seem to be a lot of missing parents in animes like this. In both animes, the main characters are confined within a certain space in which they are safe-more or less-from the danger “outside.” In the beginning of Attack on Titan, the Colossal Titan attacks Wall Maria and wipes out 1/3 of whatever humanity is left. In the beginning of Black Bullet, there are people living in tents and a gigantic Gastrea comes down from the sky and terrorizes the people there, almost extinguishing humanity. The Apocalypse: Okay, this is just obvious hands down. They are swifter and harder to kill than promoters are-that’s what probably makes them like Ackermans as well (the Ackermans are a warrior clan.) ![]() They have the Gastrea Virus rooted in them, and they use its abilities to fight back. The Promoters are soldiers that have sworn to protect humanity from the Gastrea, and Initiators are like Titan-shifters. If injected with Titan serum, you turn into one…but that’s a little different if you have control of yourself.ĭefenders of Humanity: Let’s put it this way: Promoter is to soldier and Initiator is to titan shifter/Ackerman. If attacked by a Gastrea, you turn into one of them. There’s even a way that both enemies make more of their kind. With Titans it’s the spot behind their necks and with Gastrea it’s Varanium metal. Both Gastrea and Titans have regenerative abilities unless they are hit at their weak point. The Enemies: While Gastrea look more like animals and Titans more like humans, the difference basically stops there. In Attack on Titan, the three massive walls keep most of the Titans from getting in-aside from the Colossal and Armored Titans. In Black Bullet the walls are a few panels made of Varanium, a metal that Gastrea hate. The Walls: They both have some kind of walls that are keeping the main enemy from getting in. They both show the impending danger, be it Gastrea or Titans, and they both show the people that are planning on either helping or destroying these monsters, be them Initiators and Promoters or Titan Shifters and soldiers. The Opening: Both openings almost seem to have the same melody to them and convey the same message.
